Abdo Luxury Camp is a family business, run by Abdo and a team from the villages around Merzouga.
Where we come from
Out of respect for the place we were born
We built this camp in the vast and majestic Erg Chebbi, in the heart of the Merzouga desert, out of the utmost respect for the place where we live and where we were born.
After many years welcoming travellers in the desert, we wanted a camp where people feel at home. A place for couples, families and small groups who look for calm and privacy, who want to retreat for a night or two, meditate on a dune or simply walk in one of the most beautiful parts of the Sahara.
The tents are spaced apart and the camp is laid out like a horseshoe, so that everyone keeps a view of the dunes and some quiet. Every element follows the Berber tradition: inlaid wood furniture, fabrics made by Berber artisans, leather beds, and the scent of amber in the tents.

One of the best experiences of my travel life. We went through the desert riding a dromedary, guided by Kamal and Ahmed, two kind and helpful guys who made the journey even more enjoyable. We stopped to watch the sun disappear behind the dunes; it was spectacular! Then we got to the camp and the tent was so beautiful, very stylish and well decorated. It was also really clean and the scent of amber was inebriating. The dinner, a typical Moroccan tajine, was delicious, and after dinner we sang and danced around the fire under the starry sky. They also taught us how to play the typical Berber rhythms with their traditional instruments. The next morning we watched the sunrise and rode back to the village. Very much recommended.
This was an optional stop on our 10 day tour of Morocco, and well worth it. This is glamping, with each tent furnished with queen and king sized beds, full bathroom, sitting area and wood floor. A sumptuous supper was served, after which the locals put on a musical display with dancing. Up at 6 am for the camel ride into the dunes to watch the glorious sunrise. The camels were gentle, even friendly. It is cold this time of year, so dress for it. All staff were very friendly. A worthwhile experience.
A wonderful experience. We left Marrakech for Merzouga, rode a camel through the desert to Abdo Luxury Camp, a surreal atmosphere. After a very rich dinner we stayed around the fire chatting, with music and lots of laughter. Congratulations to Abdul and his staff, all professional and kind. See you soon!
Excellent! A beautiful camp, cared for down to the details. The room is superb, decorated with care and very welcoming. Hot shower in the room! Excellent food, and an excellent welcome. The whole team is always available. You can reach the camp by dromedary, walk on the dunes, surf the dunes, watch the sunrise and the sunset. A beautiful experience. Thank you Abdoul!
An amazing stay! I cannot describe the beauty of the Sahara, this is something you have to go and experience for yourself! The tents here are equipped with running water and flushing toilets, it is very cosy and everything is well maintained.
I am a woman from the South of Italy, from Calabria, and I did this tour. I felt very well looked after, both for the assistance and the wonderful company of people from different backgrounds, all united in peace, serenity and harmony. The camp is well equipped with every comfort, the food is genuine and well cooked. I have decided to come back for another tour of Morocco. Money well spent!
